Her work was first
published in
the award-winning Modern China by Alden R. Carter,
photographs
by Carol S. Carter and Alden R. Carter (Franklin Watts, 1986).
Subsequently,
she had photographs published in her husband's The Battle of
Gettysburg
(Franklin Watts, 1990) and I'm Tougher than Asthma
(Albert
Whitman, 1996) by Alden R. Carter and Siri M. Carter, photographs by
Dan
Young. She worked as photo coordinator with Dan Young on Big Brother Dustin (Albert Whitman, 1997) and co-photographer with Young on Dustin's Big School Day (Albert Whitman, 1999). Ms. Carter has been principal photographer on three books by her husband. Seeing Things My Way (Albert Whitman, 1998); Stretching Ourselves: Kids with Cerebral Palsy (Albert Whitman, 2000); and I'm Tougher than Diabetes (Albert Whitman, 2001). In addition to her published photography, she has served as illustration consultant on twenty books for children and young adults, sixteen of them award-winners. She is available for book and magazine assignments, portraiture, and family gatherings. She does not accept wedding assignments. Ms. Carter is a
graduate of the
Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula, MT, and the Univ. of
Wisconsin--Eau Claire. She has also attended photography programs at
the
Rhinelander School of the Arts, Rhinelander, WI, Old Dominion Univ.,
Norfolk,
VA, and the Gerlich Photography Seminars. She is a fellow of the
Academy
of Certified Baccalaureate Social Workers. She is also an
accomplished fiber artist. Her quilts have received numerous
awards. With her sister, Cinda Tollefson, she owns C & C
Creations. In addition to selling hand-dyed fabrics and quilt
kits. Cinda and Carol present workshops on dyeing and quilting. She lives with her
husband,
Alden, a dog, a ferret, and many fish in Marshfield, Wisconsin. The Carters have two adult children, Brian, an
architect, and Siri, a horse trainer and student. |
