Twenty-eight
million Americans, fully one in five women and one in fifteen men,
suffer from
migraines. The disruption of family life affects large numbers of
preschool and primary school children. For them to see mama lying
in a dark room with a wet cloth over her eyes can be a profoundly
frightening experience. Are they to blame? Is mama ever
going to get better? In their fear and worry, many children act
out, demanding attention when the parent is least able to give it.
But there is hope! Planning, information, and access to
advanced treatments can relieve not only the migraine sufferer but the
family as a whole. Even very young children can learn what they
can do to help when a migraine strikes a parent. Thanks to a
public service program by Pfizer, Inc., Alden Carter has written Mama Lion's Migraine
to explain migraines to very young children. Join the lion cub
Kimi and his friends as they learn about migraines and find ways
to help around the waterhole until Mama Lion is feeling better.
